It is always fun to cover the coast — my favorite place. Since 1946, which I shouldn't say because then everyone knows how old I am, Swansboro, Morehead City, Beaufort and New Bern have been places most important in my life and my heart. After all this time, it is amazing to watch these areas I have loved and lived in, grow and (hopefully) improve with the passing years. I would like to thank Molly Harrison, my editor, whose patience and expertise have been greatly appreciated this year. I would also like to thank the Insiders' Guide crew in Wilmington who are always ready to answer a question or e-mail a joke. Thanks to Susan, Matt and Melissa who always answer my questions — dumb or not. You guys are an amazing team. Thank you for letting me be a part.
 

There's a lot to see, explore, experience and discover here on the coast of North Carolina. I hope that visitors can get better acquainted with the area and that residents can learn a little something they may not have known before. I am continually learning something new about the area, and I hope that you, the readers, are too. I would like to give a big thank you to Molly Harrison whose unending kindness, patience and knowledge have been very appreciated. To the rest of the Insiders' team, my thanks to you for welcoming me and being patient as I learned the ropes. Matt, Melissa and Susan — thanks for all of your hard work. I would also like to thank the businesses in the communities all throughout the area who took the time out of their busy schedules to answer my many questions. To Jeremy and my family, you are a constant source of support in my life and I thank you deeply.
